We’ve all been there. You’re running and running as fast as you can, but you still seem to be standing still. Sure marketing your network marketing, Multi-Level marketing, or affiliate marketing business is worthwhile, but as with any type of business, it’s only worthwhile if it’s profitable. And it’s only profitable if it’s done well. That’s where the rub is. Most marketers are approaching this the wrong way.
For example, you can spend thousands of dollars on a television marketing campaign but if no one sees your commercials or your commercials do not reach your target audience and generate sales, the advertising was not worthwhile. So perhaps a more appropriate way of approaching this would be to say that marketing your business is worthwhile when it works. This is a rather vague statement, but in this article we’ll investigate the issue further and explain how you can make an easy but huge change in your marketing, and “un-suck” your business life!
One of the most basic principles of marketing is to make sure you reach your target audience. This is so important because your target audience is the people who are most likely going to be interested in purchasing your products or services. It is much easier to sell your products or services to those who already have an interest in the products and services you have to offer, than it is to convince those who are not interested in your products or services that they want them!
One of the greatest mistakes network marketers (for example) make is simple: they do it the way their company tells them to. They sit down and make a list of everyone they’ve ever known and then they start making phone calls. They call their family members, their friends, their doctor, their bank teller, their first grade teacher, and probably a few dead people as well. What’s the result of all this? They get depressed at the rejection, and most of their family and friends decide they never want to speak with them again.
So, what’s the alternative?
There has to be an alternative, right? And sure, we all know the answer: the Internet! Of course! And so, we come to the next big mistake most of us make: we take our company’s replicated website, and we start blasting it all over our social media accounts! Hey! Why not? It’s got all our products there in case people want to buy them! And, it has a link to an OK presentation about the opportunity as well, right? That’s gotta be perfect!
Well, sorry to say… not so much. You see, the problem here is two-fold:
1) Most people scrolling through their FaceBook or Twitter feeds aren’t there because they’re looking for your pills, potents, foreign or crypto currencies, or your business opportunity. They’re there because they are keeping track of their friends and sharing what’s up with them. To have one of their friends start pitching pills at them can put some folks off. Even if you use something like Facebook Ads, those who click on your corporate site are probably not going to be very enthused… either by the products or the opportunity. Face it! Your corporate site is boring! They all are! The presentation is probably done by the CEO or a VP who fancy themselves as “great communicators”, but who actually resemble corpses! They might be great in a boardroom explaining ledgers, but on a sales page they’re sheer death incarnate!
2) Here’s the big one: In the rare event someone clicks on your post or ad and goes to your corporate site… you won’t know about it. They don’t have to “opt-in” to anything to get there. They just go. There are no Capture Pages on corporate sites! No one ends up in your personal autoresponder to see your site, so you never know they’ve been there! And, since you don’t know, there’s no way for you to follow up unless they comment on it on your post. They went in, saw your stuff, and you had no chance to talk to them about their experience.
OK! Now, come clean! Am I not talking about some of the things you know are making your business life suck? We’ve all made these mistakes… when we were young.
